ISCAR training and supervision via videoconference
ISCAR biopsychological model and interventions
Problem statement
Drawing on advances in neuroscience regarding neurohormonal circuits (Panksepp, LeDoux, Decety, Tassin, Damasio) and the crucial role of myelination (Welker and Patton), the ISCAR biopsychological model proposes a new framework for understanding individual singularities through the lens of personality styles and disorders. ISCAR postulates that the myelination of neural pathways (white matter) is a fundamental process, while an individual's adaptation to their environment is achieved through the synchronous development of emotions and information processing (neurotransmitters and hormones) within neurohormonal circuits (grey matter). This innovative analysis of the neurohormonal circuits underlying all behavior sheds light on their origins and functional mechanisms. This emerging approach proves highly valuable for mental health and education professionals, as it offers a means to guide individuals toward a deeper understanding of their behavioral reactions and supports them in implementing tools to restore equilibrium.
« Note that the model featured in this session is an emerging model and is still awaiting peer evaluation. »
Need: By participating in this training, you will develop a deep understanding of human behavior and acquire practical tools to optimize both your clients' well-being and your own.
Prerequisites:
Regardless of your theoretical orientation, this training will provide an in-depth understanding of the development and functioning of the various neurohormonal circuits that shape emotions and personality. This perspective will enable you to more effectively utilize intervention tools from diverse clinical approaches, helping your clients restore and maintain their equilibrium. This program is designed for all healthcare and education professionals.
Trainers
Benoît Poisson, psychologist, Marianne Poisson, occupational therapist, Isabelle Queval, psychologist
Dr. Benoît Poisson, following a forty-year career as a clinical psychologist working with children, adolescents, and adults facing diverse mental health challenges across various clinical settings, has been dedicated to leading professional training sessions for over a decade. Drawing on his extensive expertise, he has authored scientific articles entitled "A Systemic Biopsychological Perspective on Basic Emotions" and "Poisson's Biopsychological Inventory: Reliability and Validity." He also contributed a chapter to the reference work "Communication, Tensions, and Conflicts" (Breugnot et al.), in which he explores the development of personality and its impact on conflict dynamics.
Marianne Poisson, M.Sc., has been an occupational therapist since 2008. She possesses diverse clinical experience working with children, adolescents, and their families. Her pediatric practice has led her to establish numerous partnerships with childcare centers and school environments. She has always advocated for collaboration between various stakeholders to support children in their development. Throughout her professional journey, she has been involved in clinical teaching, providing clinical support to her peers, and facilitating training sessions for professionals from various sectors, as well as for educators and parents in childcare settings.
Isabelle Queval, M.Ps., is a psychologist with over 25 years of experience in the field of mental health. She has worked with diverse populations in clinical practice as well as within higher education institutions. Currently, she serves as a psychologist and Head of Mental Health Services at the Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS). In this role, she notably developed and deployed the institutional mental health action plan, while also managing mandates for crisis intervention, psychological assessment, and psychotherapy. With a long-standing commitment to clinical training and supervision, she is recognized for a teaching approach that closely integrates clinical knowledge with the lived experience of practitioners.
Goals
1. Categorize the fifteen personality styles and disorders in relation to the five neural circuits.
2. Master the evaluation grid for the five neural circuits and the ISCAR compass of the 15 personality styles and disorders.
3. Identify intervention tools tailored to the dominant neural circuits specific to each client.
