ISCAR training and supervision
The ISCAR Biopsychosocial Model Has Reached Maturity: Certification Training via Videoconference on November 5 and 6, 2026
The result of fifteen years of neuroscience research and clinical trials, the ISCAR biopsychosocial model has been enriched by the expertise of 350 experienced clinicians from Canada and Europe.
This unique collaboration has resulted in a ready-to-use approach. It provides you with practical strategies to guide your clients toward a deeper understanding of their behaviours. In addition, it offers concrete tools to help regulate their dominant neurohormonal circuits.
Regardless of your theoretical orientation, this training will offer you the opportunity to deepen your understanding of the development and functioning of the neurohormonal circuits involved in emotions and personality. Thanks to this new perspective, you will be able to use your current intervention tools more effectively to support your clients in finding and maintaining their balance.
During this training, you will gain an in-depth understanding of human behaviour, as well as practical tools to improve the well-being of your clients and yourself. The first day will be devoted to learning the theoretical foundations, while the second will focus on a detailed exploration of intervention strategies.
Research Question
The ISCAR model offers a new perspective on personality development. Drawing on advances in neuroscience—particularly the research of Panksepp, LeDoux, Decety, Tassin, and Damasio on neurohormonal circuits, as well as that of Welker and Patton on myelination—this biopsychological model provides an innovative analytical framework for understanding individual differences through personality styles and disorders. This is made possible by a central element: the myelination of neural tracts (white matter).
A person’s adaptation to their environment also depends on the synchronized development of emotions and information processing, orchestrated by neurotransmitters and hormones within neurohormonal circuits (gray matter). This innovative approach promotes a better understanding of the origins and functioning of human behaviour.
This emerging model is proving particularly useful for mental health and education professionals, who find tools within it to help people better understand their behavioural reactions and regain their balance.
Objectives
1. Classify the fifteen personality styles and disorders in relation to the five neural circuits.
2. Be able to use the assessment grid for the five neural circuits, as well as the one for the 15 personality styles and disorders.
3. Identify recommendations to provide to clients and use tools consistent with the ISCAR personality neural circuits.

The biopsychosocial model
Diagram of the five neurohormonal circuits (Instinctivity, Sensitivity, Cognitivity, Affectivity, and Reflexivity) in relation to myelination and the five basic emotions: anger, surprise, desire, sadness, and happiness (Poisson, 2015).
Diagram of the ISCAR model: five neurohormonal circuits (gray matter): 15 emotions and clinical disorders; five neural circuits (white matter): 15 personality styles and disorders.
Clinical application of the ISCAR biopsychosocial model.
Four clinical case studies: assessment of neurohormonal circuits and intervention plan (IP).
Intervention tools for each personality style in relation to the ISCAR Compass.
The first day is primarily devoted to theory, while the second focuses on intervention strategies. Group supervision is offered to those who wish to deepen their understanding of the model and become familiar with the use of the ISCAR questionnaires
